In accordance with the law, FORMA offers young people between the ages of 18 and 24 the opportunity to participate in training, education and training programs (for a maximum of 24 months). The language of instruction in FORMA is Papiamentu. The following goals are pursued:

  1. Obtaining a basic qualification for the local labor market (MBO1 diploma) and / or;
  2. Leading to a permanent job or further education;
  3. Retaining a job and completing further education.
  4. For participants where none of the above is feasible (Mild Intellectual Disabilities, people with MID), an independence training is provided in coordination with the business partners involved.

After attending regular education and in preparation for the main course, students will /can follow the basic ‘Basiko’ course for 10 months (one school year). During the first two periods of the school year, the students are present at FORMA for 5 days a week. The curriculum is permanently geared to the demands of society and the needs of the target group.

There is room for a maximum of 20 students in this basic route, where an EVS (Educational Training Worker) and an OA (a teaching assistant) are assigned to the group. The Básiko trajectory is a formative trajectory aimed at both the personal and professional development of young people. By means of exploratory portfolio assignments, which are linked to 9 competencies, the student discovers who they are, which talents and qualities they possess, where their interests lie, and ultimately develops a daily structure which includes a day and night routine where the student learns to learn. In this way the young person develops self-insight, knowledge and a realistic vision of the future.

LABOR TRAINING

The Job Access trajectory is aimed at seeking, finding and retaining work. Students who choose to go to work or who cannot attend MBO Entrance level 1 due to cognitive or personal problems, will receive support in their personal and professional development in order to lay a foundation of general knowledge and social skills. The trajectory is differentiated as much as possible and participants receive an offer that allows them to develop optimally on the basis of their background, capacities and interests. The program is largely practically structured and focuses on teaching basic work skills. The program lasts at least one year and consists of the following three phases where young people enter the labor market.

In phase 1, education is offered two days a week for a minimum of six months at the FORMA location, under the supervision of an EVW (Educational Training Worker) and an OA (Teaching Assistant). For the remaining three days, students go to a work experience facility where they can gain experience in being an employee. If the student already has a job, he will work there these days. During the days that the students are working within the apprenticeship facility, the OA and / or EVS is regularly present on the work floor.

The group has a maximum capacity of 15 students. The curriculum consists of the following subjects and the content focuses on competencies, which are based and combined with the training Bridge to Work (Kaminda pa Trabou) and which are translated into the practice of a working environment. The content of the subjects mentioned below is translated as much as possible into a concrete work situation.

In phase 2, education is offered one day a week at the FORMA location for a minimum of six months. Students have a job or an internship that they have chosen themselves. In this phase, the goal is to get at least a one year contract with an employer they choose themselves in a profession they have an affinity with.

Structural and intensive “job coaching” takes place by the EVS employee together with the OA. This fixed amount of time is tailored to the demand and needs of both the student and the employer. Tailor-made agreements have also been made about accessibility during and after office hours.

In this final phase, which also lasts at least 6 months, the goal is “to keep a job” and to perpetuate and confirm what has been learned.

The frequency of supervision continues to take place at the workplace.
