FORMA, in accordance with the law, offers young people between the ages 18–24 the opportunity to participate in formation, education, and training pathways (maximum 24 months). The language of instruction at FORMA is Papiamentu. The intended goals are:
- Obtaining a start qualification for the local labor market (MBO1 diploma) and/or;
- Guiding participants toward permanent employment or further education;
- Retaining a job and completing further education;
- For participants for whom none of the above is feasible (due to mild intellectual disability, LVB), an independence training is provided in coordination with relevant partners.
Mi Formashon / Labor Market Preparation (Mi-Fo/ATL)
This pathway is aimed at students coming from PRO, or students (18+) who have dropped out of regular education and are not yet ready to enter an MBO level 1 entry program. In preparation for the main trajectory, students follow a basic program of 10 months (one school year). Students attend FORMA 2 days per week and 1 day per week they participate in a community internship. The curriculum is continuously adapted to the needs of society and the target group.
In this basic program, guided by an (EVWér) educational development worker, there is room for a maximum of 15 students. The Mi-Fo/ATL pathway is a formation program focusing on both personal and professional development of young people. Through portfolio assignments linked to competencies from the Bridge to Work program, students discover who they are, what talents and qualities they have, where their interests lie. They develop a daily structure and day/night rhythm, and they learn how to learn. In this way, young people gain self-insight, knowledge, and a realistic view of their future.
Long Life Learning (LLL)
In recent years, more and more students from special secondary education (VSO) and clients of the Fundashon Kuido pa Hende Desabilita (FKPD) have enrolled at FORMA for formation and education. These students are people with mild intellectual disabilities (LVB) with an average IQ between 50 and 70. Due to their cognitive limitations, they find it difficult to directly follow an MBO entry program and are dependent on others because they cannot function independently in various areas of life. In the LLL program, this group is taught practical, social, and cognitive skills. They attend school one day per week, and on the other days they are active at their workplace or in day activities. After this program, we evaluate whether the student is ready to progress to an MBO certificate program.
